Stage by stage

  1. 1

    East Tonsai

Leave the village eastward behind the pier, following the path past the last restaurants. The view quickly opens onto the channel and Phi Phi Leh.

  2. 2

    The rocky passages

The trail alternates concrete stretches and rock-hopping at the water's edge. At high tide two sections are crossed with your feet in the water — that's the fun part.

  3. 3

    Viking Beach

A small cove with anchored long-tails and a beach bar — the ideal refreshment stop two-thirds of the way.

  4. 4

    Long Beach

The trail lands on Hat Yao: 800 m of white sand, limpid water and the best head-on view of Phi Phi Leh. Snorkel toward Shark Point at the eastern tip (harmless blacktip reef sharks at first light).

🎒 What to bring

  • Walking sandals are enough — expect wet feet at high tide
  • Mask and snorkel for Shark Point, at the beach's eastern end
  • Taxi-boat back: 100-150 THB per person, agree on the price before boarding
  • Gorgeous in late afternoon, when the light skims Phi Phi Leh

⚠️ Safety

  • !The rocks are slippery at high tide: keep to the landward side if the water is choppy
  • !Currents off Shark Point early morning: stay close to shore
  • !Sunscreen: half the trail is exposed
