The short answer
Koh Kradan is a small Trang island that owes its fame to one thing: its beach. A long strip of white sand, turquoise water, regularly ranked among the world's best beaches. Add a reef reachable off the shore for snorkeling and an island that has stayed wild (very few buildings), and you have one of the finest beach addresses in the Andaman — provided you accept the absence of urban comforts.
Who it's for
- Ideal for: lovers of dream beaches, couples, travellers after calm and raw nature.
- Not for: those who want shops, restaurant choice, nightlife or easy logistics. Koh Kradan is deliberately undeveloped — bring cash and essentials.
What to do
- The beach, obviously — among the country's best.
- Shore snorkeling on the reef, in clear water.
- Sunsets and total disconnection.
- Trips to the neighbouring islands (Koh Muk and its Emerald Cave, a short hop away).
How to get there
By speedboat from Koh Phi Phi (Tonsai, departures around 09:30-13:30), Koh Lanta and Koh Muk. An ideal stop on a Trang islands circuit toward the southern Andaman.
When to go
November to April: dry season, calm sea, clear water. Like its neighbours, Koh Kradan winds down May to October (closures) — check openings before booking off-season.
What to combine it with
