The Andaman monsoon is not six months of continuous rain: it's short tropical squalls between wide windows of good weather. What ruins a honeymoon isn't rain — it's a rigid schedule that leaves rain no room.

The golden rule: the magic happens in the morning. In green season the sea is almost always kinder before noon. Build your days like this:
Private boat at first light — empty lagoons, golden light, glassy water. This is when sunrise Maya Bay (outside the Aug–Sep closure) or Pileh Lagoon become a two-person experience.
Back by 1–2pm — lunch, nap, pool during the possible afternoon squall.
Free evenings — the viewpoint after rain, a couples' massage, dinner with your feet in the sand.
A private longtail starts at 2,500 THB for 2 hours — for the price of a dinner you get a boat, a captain who knows every sheltered corner, and a route that adapts to the day's weather instead of suffering it. In green season it's the single best purchase of a honeymoon here. For a plusher ride that handles leftover swell better, there's the premium catamaran.
Green season's hidden advantage
Nobody says it, but: monsoon is the best season for a honeymoon budget. Five-star resorts in northern Phi Phi and Railay run 30–50% off — the difference pays for a villa upgrade, three private trips and every massage of the stay. And the photos? Post-squall skies produce sunsets January never will.
The honest plan B
It must be said: a few days per season, the sea wins.
