The most authentic experience
The long tail is the traditional Thai boat — car engine grafted to a long propeller, no upper deck, characteristic noise. This is Thailand as it is. If you want postcard printing, this is it.

Our advice
Ideal for:
- Couple on honeymoon: total privacy, slow pace.
- Photography: the boat itself is photogenic.
- Small groups: 2-6 people, the atmosphere is family.
- Moderate budget: cheaper than a private speed boat.

Namely
- Rough seas? The long tail is less stable. In the wet season (May-Oct), prefer the speed boat.
- Distance: does not go further than Bamboo Island (too long in long tail).
- No roof: sunscreen, hat, swimsuit + t-shirt.
Tip: Pay the captain directly in cash at the end of the round — this is local practice. Tip 200-500 THB depending on the quality of service.

Before you go
Good to know
Prone to seasickness?
Take a tablet ~30 min before departure, sit mid-boat, keep your eyes on the horizon and avoid heading out on an empty stomach.
Beat the crowds
Iconic spots like Maya Bay are far calmer early in the day. Our morning departures get you there before the midday ferry rush.
National park fees
Some sites sit inside a national park, so an entrance fee may apply. Check the “Not included” list above so there are no surprises.
Sun & reef care
The tropical sun is strong — bring a hat, sunglasses and plenty of water. Reef-safe sunscreen is required in Thai marine parks.
What to pack
Swimwear under your clothes, a towel, a dry bag for your phone, and a change of clothes for the trip back.
