The most emblematic cultural excursion in the North

The Wat Rong Khun (White Temple) is in the top 3 most photographed temples in Thailand. Its particularity: entirely white with shards of inlaid glass that sparkle in the sun, outstretched hands emerging from the ground at the entrance (souls in hell), and each detail carrying a Buddhist symbol.

Our advice

  • Early departure — at 10:30 a.m. you arrive before the big waves of tours. Around 2 p.m. the White Temple is crowded.
  • Easy shoes — barefoot in the main temples.
  • Camera fully loaded — White Temple = 200+ easy photos.

Golden Triangle (2 day option)

If you have 2 days: extend the tour to also see:

  • Golden Triangle — Thailand-Laos-Myanmar junction point on the Mekong.
  • Opium Museum — history of trafficking in the region.
  • Akha and Hmong villages — ethnic minorities.

Price ~4,500 THB/person with 1 night of hotel included. Ask us.

Tip: the black coffee in the Doi Tung region is exceptional (high altitude plantations). Coffee stop possible on request, 30 min extra.

3 hours drive there, 3 hours return = 6 hours on the road. But the White Temple is **unique in the world** — it is one of the iconic images of Thailand. If you have 1 day in Chiang Mai to go out, this is the best cultural choice.
