About the Course

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the first scuba certification level. After completion, you will be qualified to dive anywhere in the world up to 18 meters depth.

Additional Fees: 800 THB (PADI registration and materials)

Course Structure

Part 1: Knowledge Development (Online or Classroom)
Learn diving theory through PADI eLearning or classroom sessions. Topics include:

  • Diving physics and physiology
  • Dive equipment
  • Dive planning
  • Diving environment
  • Safety procedures

Part 2: Confined Water Dives (Pool or Shallow Water)
5 sessions to master basic diving skills:

  • Equipment assembly and checks
  • Buoyancy control
  • Regulator clearing and recovery
  • Mask clearing
  • Emergency procedures
  • Underwater navigation

Part 3: Open Water Dives
4 open water dives at Phi Phi dive sites to apply your skills:

  • Put skills into practice in real conditions
  • Explore coral reefs and marine life
  • Practice with your instructor
  • Maximum depth: 18 meters

Dive Sites

Your training dives may include:

  • Hin Bida – Colorful soft corals
  • Palong Wall – Easy wall dive with swim-throughs
  • Shark Point – Blacktip reef sharks
  • Loh Samah Bay – Sheltered bay for training

Requirements

  • Minimum age: 10 years (Junior Open Water)
  • Reasonable fitness and health
  • Basic swimming skills (200m swim or 300m snorkel)
  • Medical questionnaire (doctor clearance if needed)
  • Valid ID or passport
